aka how I came to love our 1000sqft rental
After thinking and re-thinking I've decided the best way to show our space is to break it down room by room. And why not start with our suddenly bright pink dinning room?
1.The pink moose fabric (ALGORT from IKEA) that we starched to the wall. You can check out the pin that inspired it. A wonderful way to add personality to a rental without worrying about de-wallpapering when we move. (Adding personality to our home was big on my to do list.)
2.Our turquoise folding chairs on the wall. I seem to be magnetically drawn to the color turquoise, I just never get enough of it. Hanging extra seating on the wall is another awesome Ikea idea, saves so much floor space
3. Our cordless Dyson (that also hangs on the wall). The best vacuum for apartment dwellers. Well at least for these apartment dwellers.
4. The kids art corner. Inspired because K was doing some major painting and play dough projects at least twice daily and wanted to display all his creations. Has it been touched since we tried to make the space more attractive and functional? Once and because I insisted he at least try it. Maybe H will get some use out of it:). Still love it, so there. So much more attractive than taping the many creations up on the wall.
What makes this space WORK:
1. Switching to floor level dinning. Much easier to store a ton of pillows/cushions than a ton of chairs and it opens up the space so much. Also, H has a great place to practice pulling up and cruising. We did keep our collapsible dinning table as a sort of buffet in case we (or the occasional guest) decided floor dinning wasn't working.
2. Indoor/Outdoor rugs. A toddler and a food-crazy baby on a white rental rug? No thank you. The gray rug under H's high chair might be impossible to stain. Halleluiah.
